I don’t read the liberal websites (i.e. Atrios, Daily Kos, Democratic Underground, etc.), because for the most part they wind up being liberal pep rallies with nobody saying anything really intelligent, logical or reasoned, and lots of people spewing pretty wild conspiracy theories and vile insults. However, I never in my life thought that mainstream sites like that — even liberal as they are — would put up with the kind of poison I read this morning while clicking through one of Michelle Malkin’s posts this morning. I clicked all the way through the links associated with this post, and the links in those links, and etc., and was pretty appalled at what passes for reasoned debate on the “other side.” Call me naive. Call me sheltered. Call me sick to my stomach.
Now, I understand that there are some people in this world — some that even have access to the internet and can figure out how to turn on their computers — that are rude, crude, foul, despicable, stupid, foolish, etc. Some just like to hear themselves talk — preferrably with the foulest words their tiny little minds can come up with, which makes it fortunate that most four-letter-words are . . . well, four letters. No amount of chiding, reasoned defense, shaming (they have no shame), etc. is going to make these people shut up, so I don’t hold out much hope that Michelle’s post will do much good (or, for that matter, Captain Ed’s chivalrous post along the same lines). I’m just too much of a cynic. Still, reading the kind of stuff Michelle has to read every day made me pretty angry.
Fact is, the conservative movement has some of the smartest women out there (perhaps, by definition!). Michelle, Debbie Schlussel, Condolezza Rice, Anne Coulter, Maggie Galagher, Laura Ingraham, Kate O’Biern, and on, and on, and on . . . The brain power of just those listed, if harnessed (Matrix-style), would make drilling in ANWR a moot point. And their integrity is unimpeachable. Most are faith- and family-oriented; all are honorable.
And then you get to the ethnic diversity. Filipino. Jewish. Black. Scotch/Irish. Throw in Kathryn Jean Lopez, and you add Latino. What a wonderfully diverse bunch, which just goes to show that conservatives are not all bigotted white males. WASPs are a thing of the past — Americans have grown up to find that conservative policies, rather than being racist, elitist and misogynist, are in fact — *gasp* — simply good policies. Atrios and Kos and disciples have not yet figured this out. These ladies have.
And (my apologies ladies, but it has to be said — no elephants in this room!), they are stunning, knockout beautiful. Hey, facts is facts.
The left has . . . hmmm, let’s see . . . well, Maureen Dowd is awfully pretty. And that about does it.

Leftist women are ugly and/or unmarried, conservative ones are pretty and/or married. Family stability has replaced wealth as the great indicator of party affiliation it seems. The Republicans still attract thems that has while the Dems still attract thems that lack, and know they likely always will absent an act of Congress.
